For festival-goers

Everything your group needs for the weekend

One app for finding each other, knowing what is on and making the most of every day.

  • Your crew on the map

See where your friends are and how far it is to walk. You choose who sees you and whether they see your exact spot or just the area. You can hide for a while any time.

  • The whole line-up

Every act with a photo, a short bio and when they are on, so you can find something new between the ones you came for.

  • Plan the night, spot the clashes

Pick your sets and Olaroo warns you when two overlap. See which sets your crew are going to.

  • Find a friend in the crowd

Tap Find and an arrow points the way to your friend, counting down the metres. Not sharing? Ask “where are you?” in one tap.

  • Your day, replayed

Footprints keeps a private trail of your festival: where you went, how long you stayed and who was on. Only you can see it.

  • Every festival you have been to

Add the festivals you have been to and Olaroo builds your history: the acts on your bills and who you went with. You choose who can see it.

Works when the signal doesn’t

The map, the line-up and your plan are saved on your phone. Plans and messages you make in a dead spot send themselves when the signal comes back.

There’s plenty more

A few of the other things Olaroo does over a weekend.

  • Amenities with the details

Bars, food, water and toilets on the map, with opening hours, menus and offers from the vendors.

  • Flag a problem

No paper, a long queue, a card machine down. Tell everyone in one tap, anonymously. A report shows once others agree.

  • Kind to your battery

We work hard to keep Olaroo light on your battery. Pick Normal, Eco or Saver. Olaroo also steps down by itself as your battery runs low. Your crew can see when it is getting low too.

  • Find me

Not sharing all day? Turn on Find me and your crew can still check where you are when they need to find you.

  • Crossed paths

Turn it on to see people who were at the same festivals as you. You might already know them.

  • SOS to your crew

One button tells your whole crew you need help and shows them where you are.

  • A private camp

Mark your tent and you show as “At camp”. Your exact spot stays hidden unless you choose to share it.

  • Never miss a set

Get a reminder before the sets you picked. Follow your favourite acts across festivals too.

  • Your plan as a lock-screen wallpaper
  • Live sharing on the way there
  • Messages and group chats
  • A steps leaderboard for the weekend

Every screen on this page comes from Hollowmere, a festival we made up to show the app. Its people and acts are made up too, with photos from Unsplash.

For organisers

The festival app your crowd actually uses

People download Olaroo to find their friends. That puts your map, line-up and announcements in every one of those pockets. It also shows you how busy each area is.

The Olaroo portal's live crowd map: each area of the site shaded by how many people are there, with a count on each
  • How busy each area is

Zone counts and a heat map every 5 minutes, built only from people who share with others. Counts, never names.

  • Who is planning what

How many people have saved your festival, made a plan and built a crew, plus the most planned sets.

  • Tell everyone at once

Announcements reach every attendee’s phone. Move a set time and the people who planned to be there are told.

  • Drawing a festival site in the Olaroo portal: the boundary, areas and stages on a satellite map

Your site on a real map

Draw the boundary, areas, stages and amenities on satellite view. What you draw is what attendees hold.

  • The Olaroo portal's schedule: a stage's sets for the day with their times

    A line-up from 35,000+ artists

Search the registry, add acts with their photos and bios, then lay out each stage.

  • The Olaroo portal's community page: the festival's General chat with posts from attendees

A crowd that talks to you

Festival chat, topic channels and a moderation team you appoint. What you post appears as the festival.

Also in the portal

  • Issues the crowd reports, on a live worklist you close
  • Team roles, so a scheduler only touches the schedule
  • Vendors who run their own menus and offers
  • Walking times between every stage

Our promise

Your location is yours

  • We never sell your personal data

No ads and no third-party trackers, in the app or on this site.

  • Only people you choose see where you are

Sharing starts off. You pick who sees you and how precisely, festival by festival.

  • Organisers see numbers, never names

Crowd counts only include people who share. No count says who is in it.
